How is the anatomy of the vagina?
The vagina is a perfectly structured organ for all women.
The lower and upper walls are normally close to each other and its length is about 8-10 centimeters. This organ usually opens and stretches both widthwise and lengthwise during birth or sexual intercourse with erected penis entry.
Thanks to this flexibility of the vagina, a baby with a head diameter of about 10 cm, a body of 50-52 cm, and an average weight of 3500-4000 grams can come out of the vagina. And due to its elasticity, it can take inside a 14 -18 cm penis during sexual intercourse. The longitudinal structure of the vagina is like a letter S, the horizontally it is shaped like a letter H.
The secretory glands outside the vagina
The sebaceous and sudoriferous glands found in our body do not exist in the vagina. However, there are secretory glands located at the entrance of the vagina and allowing the glands to get vagina wet and lubricated. The most common of these glands are the “bartolin” glands which are located on the right side and the left side at the entrance, and the “skene” glands which spread around the urinary hole at the top.
The most important feature of both groups of glands is to provide a slippery liquid to the vaginal area during the sexual intercourse. The vaginal dryness of a woman’s vagina can cause pain, burning and bleeding problems. Even vaginal dryness can cause irritation of a woman’s inner lips rubbing against each other during normal walking.
